Systems Administrator (Position Filled)
Strategic Data is seeking a full time Systems Administrator –
managing primarily Linux servers.
The Network:
Strategic Data has recently moved to Fitzroy. Its newly set-up office
has approximately 30 PCs and laptops (combination of Linux, windows
& Mac operating systems) and 10 servers (mainly Linux with 1 or
2 exceptions). We have off-site servers for backup, secure storage and
web-hosting machines – This comprises of some 12-15 machines,
all running on Linux.
The Fitzroy office IT setup includes a VOIP phone system (Asterisk),
cat 6a cabling with substantial capacity for growth, integration of
alarm setup & electricity controls on the network and a range
of servers covering firewall, DMZ, development area, file and email
functions.
The Systems
Admin’ role is responsible for the ongoing
smooth running of this network, risk management, backups, security etc.
In addition, we have a number of clients for whom we provide IT support
of varying levels – the support covering areas such as
- full Sys Admin support
- occasional advice
- server setup & provision only
- network setup & maintenance
- equipment purchase
- hosting, server co-location & maintenance
- etc
The Systems Administrator role is central to the small team of:
- Systems Administrator
- Computer Technician / Systems Administrator
- Assistant Computer Tech / Systems Admin’
The person
we are seeking will have a combination of:
- Good Linux (Debian) knowledge
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Experience with using Linux in a variety of contexts
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Interest in / commitment to open source software

Salary Range:
Subject to skills and experience - $48k to $70k (+ bonus)
